Steven Campana began playing pool at age 8 at a Boys Club in Norfolk, VA where play was limited to a seven foot table and 8 ball was played with 3 stripes and 3 solids. He continued to play through college at the University of Iowa where the late Robert Froshcle, past BCA officer, supervised the Iowa Memorial Union. The Union, at that time, had 15 nine-foot gold crowns and was located on his way to class which proved to be quite an academic distraction.

Upon graduating from College in 1979, Steve studied for and passed the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination and gave up the game until 1990. At that time Mr. Mark Wilson, a BCA certified instructor, opened "Matchroom Billiards" located five minutes from his office. Steve took lessons from Mark continuously during the three years the Matchroom was open and has had a cue in his hands virtually every day since. It was this exposure to professional instruction that led him to continue his journey to a better understanding of the game and to seek additional knowledge through literature, videos and other instructors including Mr. Fred Fechter at Cuesport College in Peoria, IL and Mr. Bert Kinister in Chicago Heights, IL.

Steven is a student of personal improvement, sports psychology and is an active practitioner of the martial arts, a first degree black belt in Tae-Kwon Do and is currently a first-degree brown belt in Shorei-Ryu Karate.
